Hi. Do you check the file /home/user/.xsession-errors. Here you can see the
error. A time ago I have the same problem for the space in my home. I dont have
space, I erase any files and all ok.

Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] LTSP Thin Client login Problems

Good morning,

I have a edubuntu 8.04 terminal server and at the moment when users try to
log into the thin clients it looks like it's going to log them in, but
never plays the intro sound and never displays anything indicating that
it's going to let them on. Then after about 5-10 seconds it goes back to
the login screen.

No errors are displayed indicating that a user ID or password has been
entered incorrectly.

When I try logging in directly on the server console I get a message that
I have been logged in for less than 10 seconds and that if I didn't
intentionally log off it may be an issue of disk space, but I have 400gb
free on my LTSP raid. Here's the log:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup…
Usage: lpoptions [-h server] [-E] -d printer
               lpoptions [-h server] [-E] [ -p printer] -l
               lpoptions [-h server] [-E] -p printer -o option[=value] …
               lpoptions [-h server] [-E] -x printer
Setting IM through in-switch for locale=en US.
Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL Linked to
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default.mkdtemp: private socket dir: Too many
links

I am able to log in to the server from the console using failsafe GNOME
session.

One thing that may or may not be important is that some users are able to
log in via thin client, but it seems that only a certain number can, and
the computers that have the edubuntu OS installed locally but, in windows
terms, have a roaming profile are able to log in fine.

Any help on this would be VERY VERY much appreciated.
