Hello all, I am trying to allow users to switch between English language and Japanese Language input. Under Ubuntu Hardy I accomplished this easily for all users using SCIM and Anthy. Under Ubuntu Lucid (e.g. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) I am having issues.
I've added Japanese language support to the default gnome install via System> Administration>Language support. According to the how to I followed http://www.localizingjapan.com/blog/2010/06/15/setting-up-japanese-input-on-ubuntu-linux-10-04-lts-lucid-lynx/ I can set up Ibus preferences one user at a time by going to System> preferences>ibus preferences. Since I have 500 users this isn't feasible. So I added: "ibus-daemon &" to a script that executes when users log in. However they still have to go to System > preferences >Ibus preferences > Input Method > "Select and Input method" then select "Japanese Anthy" and then click the "add" button. So that's seven steps to get Japanese input working, which isn't a great thing IMO. Am I going about this the wrong way or has setting up alternate IME settings for users become much more difficult under Lucid? Any advice would be appreciated.
