Lucky guy! you only have a small numlock problem! :-) The rdesktop from Ubuntu has lots of bugs. You may try FreeRdp which an rdesktop fork. It is less advanced but it might be ok for you. AFAIK rdesktop from Debian works better. If you only need to access a Terminal server, you may try to install Debian LTSP My 2 cents.
