Hi, Is there a way to set up a printer on an ltsp client, so that all clients and the server can use that printer? I've tried a number of times, but can't get this to work.
My system is debian testing, ltsp5. On the server I tried to set things up in Cups in two way, neither will allow me to print a test page from cups. first way: Driver: HP LaserJet P1505 Foomatic/foo2xqx (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing) Connection: http://192.168.1.2:631/ipp/9100 second way: Driver: HP LaserJet P1505 Foomatic/foo2xqx (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing) Connection: socket://192.168.1.2:9100 I know the usb printer (HP laserjet P1505) is recognized by the client, since when I logged into a client terminal and run dmesg, I see that this printer is mentioned; [ 748.852105] usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4 [ 749.011883] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=3f17 [ 749.011900] usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 749.011914] usb 1-1: Product: HP LaserJet P1505 [ 749.011925] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard [ 749.011936] usb 1-1: SerialNumber: CA85274 [ 749.015732] usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 749.025270] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x3F17 [ 1008.352083] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 [ 1008.376079] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 [ 1744.848132] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 4 [ 1744.849515] usblp0: removed [ 1773.092088] usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 [ 1773.257080] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=3f17 [ 1773.257096] usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 1773.257110] usb 1-1: Product: HP LaserJet P1505 [ 1773.257121] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard [ 1773.257132] usb 1-1: SerialNumber: CA85274 [ 1773.259176] usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 1773.267437] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 5 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x3F17 (END) Thanks for your help, Bob ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Free Software Download: Index, Search & Analyze Logs and other IT data in Real-Time with Splunk.
