what do you mean has one octet more? mac address is fixed length.
if it's not the mac problem then the problem is that one can do nbd and
one can't.
Be specific - Is it a pxeboot or etherboot/netboot?
AFIK Regular pc usually take only pxe, but special small diskless "cans"
can work with etherboot/netboot.
