LDM_SESSION -RESOLVED

[Ref above: Vol-65, Issue-4, Message-4]

I'm grateful to both Dr Ruediger K and to Stephane G who commented so
quickly and helpfully. I have successfully implemented
LDM_SESSION="gnome-session --session=gnome-fallback" as the preferred
option as advised by Stephane and I confirm it works OK on my Edubuntu
11.10. Its purpose in my case is to enforce the continued use of Gnome
for all of my LTSP thin-client users (Gnome is the session my users
prefer; it is not a session I am attempting to enforce on them over the
default Unity in 11.10. Hence the unpicking of Unity in this particular
case).

Alas, I had not been able to locate any exemplar references of syntax
for LDM_SESSION and I noted that whatever LTSP documentation I did find
had no examples of the actual syntax to be used hence my query above.
Therefore, may I suggest that those who may know the appropriate syntax
for each of the common LTSP sessions available, offer a compilation for
reference of readers of this group? My observation is that for Ubuntu
users there still remains some mystery surrounding use of LDM_SESSION,
for which a provided definitive list of usage would help demystify.

I am delighted with the above outcome, as are my users.

With many thanks

Paul, from Oxford UK
