Hi Asmo,

thanks for that link, I remember now I once saw this tool already. But
up to now I used to ignore it because somehow I thought I must have at
least LTSP 5 to be able to use it. Is that correct?

On our new server with Suse 12.1 I run LTSP 4.2 mainly for two reasons:
I wanted a proven system to be able to quickly get the whole stuff
running again like on the old system, and I haven't found a way to
compile a small, compact and not so resource-hungry kernel for my thin
clients (actually, I didn't dive any deeper into the docs just because
there was so much else to be fixed on the new system first).

Now that everything is roughly fine, I could indeed make a second trial
with LTSP 5. But I do not completely understand how this kernel thing
would be made. I only know, I need a compact 386 kernel the clients
could boot from, and I would also like to tweek the LDM a bit to better
fit to our needs. Maybe you can point me to where to read about these?

Thanks for your help!

Rolf
