We are currently using raring version of nbd-server on precise with a small patch that prevents nbd-server from crashing because of this. This seems to keep it from crashing while a better fix is in the works. We need the named exports to work so we didn't try to go that way. The patch can be found here: https://github.com/opinsys/opinsys-debs/blob/master/packages/nbd/debian/patches/opinsys-ignore-sigpipe Happy hacking!
