Pre-release announcement - March 1, 2013

  • Call for Testers
    • As we approach the targeted release date of March 17th for the release, we are asking for any who can help test to please download the current test version and submit any EL package related bugs to us through the fedora bug reporting tool located here: Bug Report Tool
    • All general LTSP related bugs should be submitted here: Launchpad.net - LTSP Bug Tool
    • Any who wish to participate should download the ltsp-release rpm from our k12linux YUM repo located at: http://mirror.ancl.hawaii.edu/~k12linux/ltsp-release-5-1.noarch.rpm
    • Then do: yum install ltsp-server
    • Updates and annoucements will be on the k12linux facebook page, mailing lists and ltsp.org
    • Other EL6 related announcement's will be on my wiki page: http://wiki.ltsp.org/wiki/User:Enslaver
  • New Features
    • The K12Linux program and the LTSP program have been combined into one release. The current version of LTSP is 5.4.5 and will be distributed as ltsp-rhel for Enterprise Level releases and ltsp-fedora for Fedora releases via launchpad inside of the ltsp release.
    • Now uses mock to build the chroot
    • copy-on-write overlay filesystem for / on the client so it will emulate having a fully writable root
    • Stack exchange proposal for bug reporting at http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/46547/ltsp-linux-terminal-server-project
    • Various bug fixes and improvements
