There are instantly two solutions that come into my mind. LTSP runs on 
some Linux system and is able to connect USB devices, but you need a 
Windows app, so:

1. Does the application run under Wine? This would be the most direct 
way to connect the application with a USB communcation stream on the 
Linux side.

2. Maybe a VM of some sort, Linux host and Windows guest, would run? 
Could be kinda slower, but if you don't need a full-speed USB 2.0 stream...

The only question is, does the USB client-to-server thing support other 
devices than just mass storage? As far as I have followed the 
discussions here, you can e. g. connect a scanner, and I read something 
about sound devices years ago, so it should be possible.
