To troubleshoot the failed client bootups that terminate in a Busybox shell, I added "debug" to the default kernel command line in /etc/ltsp/update-kernels.conf, then ran: sudo /usr/share/ltsp/update-kernels sudo ltsp-update-image -c /
This results in creation on the client of a debug log at /run/initramfs/initramfs.debug. But contrary to one source I read somewhere, this initramfs does not include vi, so I'm trying to save the log to a USB flash drive so I can read this big file elsewhere. In https://wiki.debian.org/InitramfsDebug, in a section on saving debug information, it says "use a USB stick: plug it in, observe the kernel output, mkdir /mnt, mount the device node there, and write to the flash drive. Remember to umount before pulling out the stick." But the kernel output in initramfs does not name a device node such as sdb like it would do in an Ubuntu session. And no /dev/sd* files exist. Does anyone know how to get this job done one way or another? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
