Hi list

I need some help fast

Was ready to deploy our new LTSP setup:

Client image: Ubuntu 12.04
App server: Ubuntu 14.04
Desktop: Mate

Also I'm using the cluster solution, and our terminals are not powerfull enough
to run as fat clients.

Here is what I all of a sudden (perhaps after an app server update) observe:

For some users (but *not* all) when LDM has accepted the username and password,
the screen goes blank and LDM restarts.

I have found a few things in the logs:

/var/log/ldm.log on the terminal (in this case just a VM)

jan 14 17:24:18: [ldm] INFO: started on client with IP address: IP
jan 14 17:24:18: [ldm] INFO: calling rc.d init scripts
jan 14 17:24:19: [ldm] INFO: authenticating with backend: ssh
jan 14 17:24:25: [ltsp-cluster] INFO: IP before load-balancing: IP
jan 14 17:24:25: [ltsp-cluster] INFO: IP after loadbalancing: IP
jan 14 17:24:25: [ssh] INFO: calling rc.d pressh scripts
jan 14 17:24:26: [ssh] INFO: established ssh session on 'IP' as 'user2'
jan 14 17:24:26: [ssh] INFO: calling rc.d start scripts
jan 14 17:24:26: [ssh] INFO: starting X session
jan 14 17:24:27: [ldm] INFO: X session ended
jan 14 17:24:27: [ldm] INFO: calling rc.d stop scripts
jan 14 17:24:27: [ldm] WARNING: waitid returned an error: Interrupted system
call
jan 14 17:24:31: [ldm] INFO: started on client with IP address: IP
jan 14 17:24:31: [ldm] INFO: calling rc.d init scripts
jan 14 17:24:31: [ldm] INFO: authenticating with backend: ssh

We observer that the X session dies immediately.

>From /var/log/auth.log in the app server I find

Jan 14 17:12:30 APPS sshd[31646]: Accepted password for daleif2 from IP port
50108 ssh2
Jan 14 17:12:30 APPS sshd[31646]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for
user user2 by (uid=0)
Jan 14 17:12:30 APPS systemd-logind[13109]: New session 58 of user user2.
Jan 14 17:12:31 APPS sshd[31650]: Received disconnect from IP: 11: disconnected
by user
Jan 14 17:12:31 APPS sshd[31646]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for
user user2

So I'm guessing something makes LDM fail then it tries to start the session or
something.

Anyone have an idea as to how to debug this?

It really bugs me that it is only some users, not all.
