I'm partial to Debian, although the support cycle for a given release
has typically been about 3 years. There are efforts under way to extend
that to 5 years:

Debian is in process of releasing a new version (Jessie/8.0), so if you
need something in production immediately, it might not be the best
choice. I think Debian Jessie is the most current LTSP implementation
out there at the moment.


My next choice would probably be one of Ubuntu's LTS releases (5 year
support?), although LTSP hasn't been seing updates in Ubuntu lately...

OpenSuSE does seem to keep a variant of LTSP called kiwi-ltsp up to
date, from what I can tell at a distance. :)


No promises that switching distros will solve your problems, as it may
very well be incompatibilities in newer Xorg versions, and any recent
distro is likely to have the same issues. You've already switched from
OpenSuSE to CentOS without improvement, so chances are it's some other
issue... It might be an issue with flow-control on mixed gigabit/100mbit
networks:
