Assuming that those cad apps are 3D apps, they're probably using the
llvmpipe software emulation to have 3D over the network, which is very slow.
Don't use thin clients for 3D, use diskless ltsp fat clients instead.

It's possible to use some other technologies to have proper 3D over the
network, but that is not integrated with LTSP, and it's not very
supported in upstream Xorg either.
