Is this really your /usr/lib ? (And not /usr/local/lib) ? You installed a version from the packages didn't you? Or did you just manually install them in /usr/lib ? Like Yannick said, that probably explains the error you were getting : you were generating traces in the 2.5 format but the trace reading library was expecting 2.6 >> An alternative would be to update to a more recent version.
