This is great! I hope this works out well. It will be a very welcome way for newcomers and lurkers to get up and running with what's new.

LTTng Project Update: March 7th 2011 edition

I'm trying a new experiment here: creating a newsletter that I'll post on the
mailing list and on the website of the project. I hope to include descriptions
of ongoing development, summary of the last releases, pertinent events,
publications and presentations. I don't know yet at which frequency I will be
able to do that, so it will be published as often as I can.

Upcoming event
---------------

* March 11th at Confoo 2011: Using Linux tracing tools to analyze a LAMP stack
Yannick Brosseau will present the usage of LTTng and UST in the context of a
   web server environment.

Releases summary
-----------------

* Userspace RCU 0.5.3 and 0.5.4 were released.
These releases introduce support for older ARM CPU (pre-ARMv7) and add a
better
handling of fork(). New functions were added to the "bulletproof" (bp) flavor
to do a fork more cleanly.
The next release of UST will depend on this new API.

Development news
----------------
* UST: Lot of work was put in the last weeks into UST to fix several bugs. The
PPC build was fixed. Issues around the fork() system call are also being
fixed. We should expect a release soon which will depends on URCU 0.5.4.

Distributions
-------------
* Debian: The latest LTTV, which is available in Debian since last month, made
it to Debian testing (Wheezy) last week.

Publications
------------

* The last edition of IEEE Software presented an article on LTTng:
