No, as Khaled mentioned, fc-list's output format is completely non-standard and may change at any time, with higher probability that the location of configuration files, if you want my opinion. Also, if we ever have to deal with such a change, it's easier to test with file location (either the file is here or not) than with output format (how to you recognize which format is being used).
