Edited the manifest, then...

~ e$ cat $(luarocks show colors --rock-dir)/rock_manifest
rock_manifest = {
  doc={
    ['howto.md']='cb408010639e4fad0f0e81a6c00bb46',

    ['index.html']='3ac731d6e49351c0010d21fbf333784'
  },
  ['colors-8.05.26-1.rockspec']='e4a5bc89dc6bb28134bc8bbf35e8584',
  lua={
    ['colors.lua']='6ed3d4fe47d63edd9abc873280ff649'
  }
}
~ e$ sudo luarocks remove colors

Error: rock_manifest file not found for webrocks 2.2-1 - not a LuaRocks 2 tree?
~ e$ cat $(luarocks show colors --rock-dir)/rock_manifest
cat: Error:: No such file or directory

I wonder why it was looking for webrocks!?

Now luarocks list shows

Installed rocks:
----------------

bitlib
   23-2 (installed) - /usr/local/lib/luarocks/rocks

colors
   8.05.26-1 (installed) - /usr/local/lib/luarocks/rocks

etc., but the colors directory is gone.

~ e$ luarocks show colors --rock-dir

Error: Could not load rockspec file
/usr/local/lib/luarocks/rocks/colors/8.05.26-1/colors-8.05.26-1.rockspec
(cannot open
/usr/local/lib/luarocks/rocks/colors/8.05.26-1/colors-8.05.26-1.rockspec: No
such file or directory)
