Hello, colleagues.

I'd like to introduce my work that I've done during the last holidays.

0. Aim: make Rocks available in a Linux distro (ALTLinux for the moment)

1. Overview: Use luarocks and a corresponding rockspec to create a package (RPM for the moment), containing the Rock. That would make a heap of Rocks installable in ordinary ways to users, e.g.:
  apt-get install sputnik
would install sputnik rock and all dependencies.

2. HOW: I've wrote an utility (1) which is a preprocessor. It takes a rockspec and substitutes its values into a template. Step-by-step howto is there: (2)

3. The result: several packages made: luarocks and a few rocks, called lua-module-xxxxx. (3)

4. A lot more Rocks are ready to be built: (4). Note: there are rockspec fixes there as patches.

If someone is interested, please contact me here or privately.
Best regards,
        Ildar
