This particular error seems to be in LuaSec (that ssl module). You should report this in its bug tracker (https://github.com/brunoos/luasec) As for patch or hack... you can make luarocks use curl instead of luasocket and luasec. You need to add the following to your config-xxx.lua file fs_use_modules = true
