Apropos building:

build.sh failed because of non-existent texk/web2c/luatex.

As workaround I have added after calling `../source/configure`:
    TL_MAKE=$MAKE ../source/configure [...]
the lines
    mkdir texk/web2c
    TL_MAKE=$MAKE ../../../source/texk/web2c/configure [...]

(The real cause could also be in the Makefiles, I haven't investigated.)
