no, that will not happen .. luatex us 8 bit and utf and if you want
something else you can use the callbacks and or luatex for implementing
whatever file thingies you like

rely on external file output+input might be broken in certain
circumstances (I dont' have anything specific in mind, this is
pure rhetoric)
