I don't understand the behaviour of \shapemode on \parshape at all ;-(. Even if I let out confusing changes of directions. I asked a question once (with no answer): https://tug.org/pipermail/luatex/2017-November/006641.html Or look at the following. Why is the second value of the \parshape mirrored but not the first? \parindent0pt Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. \hrule \parshape 2 .1\hsize .9\hsize 0.2\hsize 0.8\hsize \shapemode=0 Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. \shapemode=2 \parshape 2 .1\hsize .9\hsize 0.2\hsize 0.8\hsize Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. \bye -- Ulrike Fischer http://www.troubleshooting-tex.de/
