Hi, you e-mail re WP8/Linux was forwarded to me by "cyberclop".

My suggestion is, move to Mandrake 8.2. Warren has the ISO images. I have been running WP8/Linux on MDK 8.2 for quite some time, and am very pleased with it.

I am running a small law office here, and have recently found that WP8/Linux should be adequate for our work. This is a very exciting development.

MSO can open .wpd files. Indeed, because of concerns over macro virus, many may appreciate that you send them .wpd files. Of course, you can save your WP8/Linux document as a .doc file, but you need to install a Filtrix patch.

Let me know if you have any question.

WordPerfect 8/9 for Linux works well in today's Linux versions, but I am concerned about what happens when it is broken due to incompatibilities introduced in Mandrake X or Red Hat 9.0? Corel no longer supports the program, so they will never fix it. =(

I'm hoping that OpenOffice makes viable WP filters instead, then OpenOffice/Linux will become a viable platform for law offices AND also have an ensured future.
