        My work has a policy for remote access.....  AV + Firewall required on 
personal computers before you can remote in.  My work provided me with the 
Unix version of the McAfee AV program.  So far so good.   

        The McAfee AV program will scan what's on your box, I run it from a 
crontab. 
 If you are using your box as a mail server, especially in a heterogeneous 
environment, you may wish to consider the AMAVIS tool.  
(http://www.amavis.org) to scan incoming email before it gets further 
distributed to end users.
