This is mostly addressed to Warren, though anyone with experience using the Crossover plugins can respond of course :)

I'm curious as to whether this can be made to work for me. Since I'm having trouble finding installation procedures, I'm not sure if it is compatible with distributions other than those listed.

I run a homebrew distribution loosely based off of an old slackware 7.0 install. Most everything has been upgraded. Of course, slackware doesn't support RPM, APT, or other common packaging formats. Can the crossover plugin be made to work manually with no more than "reasonable" effor (I don't want to spend more than an hour tinkering if that can be done).

Also, I'm guessing crossover office and normal crossover get along fine? Most of what I awnt to do is run my old Office97 stuff (I for the life of me cannot find a word processor that isn't bug laden, slow, or lacking in features/configurability: OpenOffice, StarOffice 5.2, abiword, and StarOffice 6.0 Beta tried), but I also might find it useful to run other stuff.

I am running Mandrake 8.2 and there was no problem downloading and installing both programs which comfortably coexist. The only problem I had with installing Office 2000 was install routine claiming not to find files on the cd; this was covered in the help notes and was a simple matter of remounting the cdrom with an "unhide" option. I am currently trying to get wordperfect to run in wine but it may be beyond my "hacking" ability. Good luck.
