My Linux firewall boots and runs from a floppy (no HD installed) and is quitefeature packed (older kernel though), newer ones are just as small. That 1GB is a default forwhat RH thinks you may want and includes MUCH more then just an operating system. W2K base is anOS, web browser, plain jane media player, notepad and not much else. Not trying to start amatch here, point is RH and any Linux can be as small or large as you WANT it to be. MS even claimedunder oath that their flagship OS won't even run if you start removing what little they doinclude. HD space is cheap anyway.
