Many were (at least initially) puzzled by Mandrake's decision to include
KOffice 1.2 RC1 after completion of beta 4. Adding a totally new set of
features near the end of the beta cycle? This is CRAZY!
But after you have tried KOffice 1.2, you may have to admit that this
move is a no brainer.
In many aspects, KOffice 1.2 is better than OpenOffice 6.0+. At least
it is much snappier. Plus, there are quite a few amenities (e.g.,
better formatting tools, mail merges, saving into a variety of file
formats, including WordPerfect, rtf, SMGL, XML, etc.,) making it
"potentially" (there are still quite a few bugs, but at least it doesn't
crash nearly as often as OpenOffice) a great productive tool for home
and/or small offices.
