Some people from the Red Hat Psyche mailing list responded to this.
Attached are their responses.

And I'm in agreement, it sounds like the ide-scsi kernel module isn't
configured, and the bottom portion of your message makes little sense.

For some weird reason, I never received the original mail, but reading
this I presume that he is having a problem where to put the extra kernel
options for boot up?

All you have to do is edit /boot/grub/grub.conf
and add the following to the end of the kernel line:

hd?=ide-scsi

only having scsi stuff, I would presume that hd? would refer to you're
cdrom?

just run: ls -al /dev/cdrom and replace the hd.. with the output
ie:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=LABEL=/  hdc=ide-scsi

Hope that kinda helps

Mark

Don't understand this.

hd?=ide-scsi is a kernel option to be appended to the boot loaders
kernel argument line.

$ ll $(find /boot -name menu.lst)
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           11 Oct 21  2001 /boot/grub/menu.lst ->
./grub.conf

It's just a soft-link to /boot/grub/grub.conf, provided that GRUB is
installed at all. If LILO is used instead of GRUB, well, the problem
is obvious, and /etc/lilo.conf must be edited instead (and LILO be
re-installed).

Don't understand this.

Nonsense.

What about Red Hat's manuals?
