Thanks for the info. Here are some of my other observations:

1. Just got back from a trip to Taiwan. Almost every hardware manufacturer there, especially Acer and VIA, seems to be placing very high hopes for the tablet PC to sort of reinvigorate PC sales. As such, they are very appreciative of Microsoft's effots (bad news). Indeed, the hardware manufacturers in Taiwan are, collectively and individually, putting pressure on Taiwan government to drop the anti-trust suit. HP also demonstrated a prototype tablet PC made by LG.

2. I have heard that the tablet PC demonstrated by Microsoft does not have a "learning" capability. Does anyone know if this is still true?

3. LG started developing their Linux version of tablet PC in early 2001. I was wondering whether any else is also doing any work in this endeavor?

I actually got to use two of the demos for a couple of minutes each one
from Acer and one from Compac. Both using windows XP for tablet PC. Pretty impressive. Even the hand writing recognition worked well. The
touch pen felt good as well. My only complaint was the OS. Too bad
linux hasn't beat M$ to the punch. When I looked online I only saw beta
models from LG that had linux on tablet. Look like old Mike just might
reap the financial gains from being first at the punch.

Does anyone think Microsoft's new tablet PC (to be officially released Nov. 14) has a good chance to succeed?
