The FTP server allows a maximum of 2 connections from a unique IP address. If you made many connections and attempts lately, it will reject you because several processes are stuck in TIME_WAIT checking to be sure the connection is fully broken before giving up.
I put up the 2 connection limit to stop those retards who use programs like GoZilla or Download Accelerator from hogging all bandwidth by using multiple connections to download a file quicker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DeanFujioka" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 5:36 PM Subject: [luau] Videl ftp server down? > when I try to connect to videl, i get the following: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] dean]$ ftp videl.ics.hawaii.edu > Connected to videl.ics.hawaii.edu (128.171.104.133). > 421 Service not available, remote server has closed > ftp> > > What's more is that I am connected and downloading an ISO via Mozilla, and > wanted to see the difference.
