Hi Everyone,
Well, I decided to take the plunge.
I had a few GB to spare on my desktop so I decided
to install Linux on it.
I used Partition Magic to move my WINXP partition
above the 1024 cylinder, which left me with enough space to install
Redhat.
Anyways, I was able to install Linux and get X
working, although only at VGA 640X480. I haven't been able to figure how to
install or find the drivers for more card, a Riva TNT 16mb AGP. If anyone can
give me some help with this, that would be great.
Another big problem I have so far is that I can not
get my network running. First of all, I couldn't find a corresponding driver
(are these "modules" in Linux?) for my card. In fact, I really don't understand
how to install drivers in Linux, or where the driver files are meant to placed,
etc. I figured out how to input my network info though, like my IP and Gateway,
using "netcfg" and "linuxconf". The strange thing about "linuxconf" is that I
was only able to run it in the shell, it wouldn't work in X, something about the
GUI. Anyways, if someone can help me out with how to setup my network, that
would be great!
Thanks!
