I do have a favor to ask you though; if you could remind your friends,
(Dan and Vincent I believe) to submit their written testimony to me if
they haven't already done so.

Also, if you could clarify for me the question Senator Aduja asked
yesterday about the functionality of Open Office. My understanding of it
is that while it has the "basic" functions of office for the average
user, for more advanced users, such as those who write their own codes
and macros, it has only about 80% of the features that Microsoft office
does.

Thank you very much. Also, just FYI, but we'll be deciding on the
resolution on Thursday.

It certainly is true about the macros. There are macros and even a macro writer apparently based on the obscure StarOffice system. I was not able to figure it out; I found a few brave souls on the web who had written macros that worked and were willing to share them. It is definitely a shortcoming. On the other hand, the macro writer in Word is fairly obscure compared to the very simple one in Wordperfect. Also, some of the things you might need a macro for are taken care of by embedded options you can turn on or off.
