I am afraid that this IS the source that Jeff has been talking about all
of this year. Things have changed. Once upon a time we were going to
get all of those machines and disburse them to the schools. Now, they
are being offered to everyone else on the island first. This is a grave
disappointment that was not anticipated.
Incidentally, Jeff gave me Ron's phone number this morning. I called
him and put us on this list. However, seeing that the request to get on
the list is reaching every school on the island, I fear that we will get
little to nothing. Ron did say we could have the non-serviceable equipment.
Just at the end of last year I fell victim to the same rosy scenario
when a key HMSA employee swore that he could get us some of the many
PC's being replaced. Repeated follow-ups and promises led to nothing.
I will have to keep my mouth shut for now on until we actually have the
equipment in hand.
Anyhow, this just confirms for me that I need to start finding the time
to ask for more donations. If any of you can help, that would be good.

This lead was shared by Carol Sahara at Hickam Elementary. Mr. Ron Garcia
from Hickam Air Force Base said it would be okay to share this with all of
you. If you are interested in being placed on a waiting list for their
old PCs, please contact him directly. Please read the history below to
get some background information.

It's perfectly okay
to share with other schools island wide. Can you tell me what you're
looking for? Everything we have is below Pentium III 450 MHz.

I'll place your school name on our list. Before you can benefit from these
donations, I have thirteen schools Hickam is partnered whose requirements
must be met first. That is when ever we have excess they are contacted
first.

I didn't know if you wanted me to use the new mailing group that you are
testing or not. Maybe you can blast to everyone that pc computers of PII
and PIII are available from Hickam AFB? They don't provide transportation
for the computers, but its worth driving down for.
I just got 100 this morning and they have lots more to get rid of.
