This is what I had to do....

chmod 744 /var/mail
chown nobody:nobody or apache:apache whichever user your apache webserver is
running
chmod -R 644 /var/lib/squirrelmail/*
chmod -R 644 /var/spool/squirrelmail/*

You may also have to chown /home/*user*(whomever)/INBOX user:apache or nobdy

Sounds like a permissions problem. A common scenario is the directory the
program is trying to create files in is owned by root and does not allow
users to create files there.

Subject: [luau] Squirrelmail question

I am trying to setup squirrelmail 1.4 on my SUSE 8.2 machine, but I am
running
into a problem. I am using the cyrus imap server, and I can get as far as
logging in. But once I am logged in and squirrelmail tries to create my
inbox
and stuff, I get an error message saying that it "could not create inbox
because permission was denied". Anyone got any ideas how I can resolve
this?

Thanks,
Rodney
