Thanks for the info. Let's hope that the measure is removed before
Monday. The potential Achilles heal of OSS is that obscenely rigid
adherence to certain patents and demanding royalties for their use could
eliminate much of what we associate with operating system and GUIs.
There is actually a conference here next week at the East West Center to
discuss the role of IP and OSS in developing countries. There is a fine
line between protecting innovation and stifling innovation. If only the
voices of those favoring measures that could stifle innovation are
heard, we can guess the outcome and complain later.
