June 15, 2004 (5-7 p.m.) - Overview of Copyrights in Traditional Media, 
presented by Bill Meyer and Seth Reiss.  Bill and Seth will share their 
expertise to give you an overview of copyright law, particularly as it applies 
to traditional media, such as literary works; pictorial, graphics and 
sculptural works; and architectural works.  The class will focus on issues such 
as copyrightability; the particular rights afforded to the author by copyright 
law; infringement; fair use, registration; licensing, and more.

June 29, 2004 (5-7 p.m.) - The New Act 221 and How to Practice Under It, 
presented by  Bill Spencer, Jeff Au and Ann Chung.  Bill, Jeff and Ann will 
provide an open, important and timely discussion of the changes recently made 
to Act 221 by the 2004 Legislature; the provisions and prospects of the new 
SPIF - State Private Investment Fund; the legislative intentions underlying 
these changes; how the changes adopted this year will affect existing and 
future Act 221 and SPIF applications, risks and benefits; and more.

favorite subject: copyright law as it applies to entertainment media - in 
particular, to music, movies and live performances.  The class will focus on 
practice in this area, and practical ways to enhance copyright protection in 
these media; delineating rights in collective works; derivative use of works; 
fair use; remedies for infringement, licensing considerations; and more.

and George Darby.  Seth and George will discuss the origins, nature and reach 
of ICANN; domain name registrations and their effects and implications under 
ICANN; changes in registration business models and practice; domain name 
conflicts and trademark law; cybersquatting and applicable federal and state 
statutes; international dispute resolution procedures and enforceability; and

August 17, 2004 (5-7 p.m.) - Copyrights in Digital Media, presented by George 
Darby and Matt Pietsch.  George and Matt will give you insight into copyright 
law as it applies to digital media such as computer programming and the 
Internet.  The class will explore the inherent problems of applying 19th 
century legal principles to 21st century technologies; the relationship between 
copyright law, patent law and trade secret law; the unique problems of 
expanding traditionally protected works to works on the Internet; vicarious 
liability; the digital Millennium Copyright act; fair use; licensing; and more.
