Since so many folks were interested in VOIP and dual mode phones at the last
open source pizza meeting....I thought I'd forward this tidbit from Motorola
who has a line of dual mode phones with a home router to handle it.

Keep in mind that you MUST MUST MUST have a backend PBX that can handle the
switch off's....Avaya has one, but asterisk doesn't on the open source
side....on the commercial side there will be one fairly soon that is an
asterisks gateway.

Subject: Dual Mode Handsets, VoIP and the Home

Hello!

After the 3GSM World Conference in Barcelona one of the big take-aways was the
unveiling of a dual mode cellular handsets. The evolution of the phone is
about to take its next big leap, allowing

To complement the Motorola A910 dual mode handset, the Connected Home Solutions
business division of Motorola had also planned for offering devices that make
the jump from a cellular to a VoIP network seamless as well as consumer
friendly. The two products I have described below are just the beginning of
Motorola's vision of seamless mobility and keeping you connected wherever you
are.

I would be more than happy to set up an interview with a senior product manager
from Motorola to speak with you about these emerging technologies.

Motorola has shipped over 2 million voice-enabled cable modems to date

o C51 Cordless Phone System: includes a VoIP phone adapter so users can
seamlessly use their VoIP service through their cordless phone system or switch
to a land line or cellular network call.

o RSG (Motorola Seamless Mobility Gateway): includes a full featured
wireless home router and built-in VoIP adapter. Allows the RSG to run a home
network, power standard telephones, and act as a hot spot for the mobile phone.

Regards,
