Alright, i wasnt sure what the guidelines are, As for the network manager, i would keep that in, as it is very usefull and easy to use (3g connections and VPN are seemless and dummy proof)
however, there is another thing to remember, in my experience, LXDE is always faster then say, gnome or even XFCE. for that matter, something like music, photo editing, web browser and office suite, do we go with the smaller, less powerfull tools, like seamonkey and abiword, or do with go with the full fledged firefox and openoffice, which will inherently run faster due to the LXDE environment. as for the forums, i can have a basic forum running very shortly for our uses.
