Jo Franz, we cannot put "orbs" in the panel. Bitmaps must be aligned and have same equal size than the panel. It's a code limitation, believe me, I've tried every combination.
Enter the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Lucid/LxDesign) and choose the app menu (I don't like the name "start menu") if it fits better. There're darker coloured panels there, but remaining LxDesign style (the new default theme) and a lot of stuff for your choice. I'm glad you like (in general) my work. Of course, I know I can't delight everybody, but here it is. :-)
