I had the same problem on two computers. I installed Maverick (cli) and then installed lubuntu-core and network-manager-gnome. Network manager told me that wired interface wasn't managed. So I just removed it and installed wicd. Everything is working perfectly now. May be try this. Hope, helps. Best wishes, Michael
