Thanks Phill. I think on my part what I'll try to do beginning with Precise
Beta 1 is to begin a bit of testing a couple of days in advance of actual
iso-testing.

For example; Beta 1 is due on March 1st so I'd expect official iso-testing to
begin either Feb 27th or 28th, with that in mind I'll do a bit of pre-test
testing beginning about the 24th or 25th to allow our very small team more time
to respond.

Also, I seem to recall on the old mailing list there was a question asked about
a "dev-team" mailing list. If a serious issue appears it would be good to have
a "dev-team" or "dev-list" that could be contacted. Not that they'd be expected
to fix the problem so much as to answer a serious question. Does that make
sense?

Many, many thanks for all you do. If anyone's at fault here it's me, I just
want to do better in the future.

Lance

PS; we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Colin Watson. It's sometimes asked of
folks who the one person they'd love to have dinner with is, and I'd love to
meet Colin. By far one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to work
with.

I did receive it, but as we were in the middle of disgorging unity from the
isos and things were in flux I did not reply as at the next build we were
hoping to have a 'clean' build. As always with life, things did not work out
that way. With my Oracle VM falling out big time with the newest 11.10 kernel
and causing me problems, I'm not really able to test stuff at the moment.

Regards,
Phill.

Did anyone receive that? If so who received that?

I sort of think the "users-list" is not what I want. I'm subscribed to so much
stuff now that just reading my mail eats my breakfast, lunch, and supper.

Some of you know by now I'm the one that pulled the plug on the Alpha 2 live
image because it gave an entirely false representation of Lubuntu's DE. I'd
actually intended to postpone the entire Ubuntu Alpha 2 release by at least 24
hours but I lost that battle.

Perhaps most importantly I was freaked out having not discovered the problem
until release day so I used my hole card and PM-ed Mark Shuttleworth himself.
Mark responded within just minutes and put me in touch with Pete Graner who was
very helpful.

I didn't agree with the outcome
but most importantly we need our own "panic button" because I can't PM Mark
frequently or it'll become akin to "crying wolf". Is the "users-list" the best
we can do for a panic button?

On my part I'm starting a dialogue with the QA community coordinator:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11663232&postcount=15

Any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm not complaining and I hope it doesn't
come across that way. If anyone's at fault here it's me, I just want do be able
to do better in the future.

In this case I really needed a response to my question about the unity-like DE
being intentional. Had I known sooner we'd have this image listed for Alpha 2:

http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/206/builds/11180/downloads

I have PM-ed Pete Graner and requested that the Alpha 2 announcement and
release notes be amended but I've so far gotten no response.

As always, thanks to all for everything they
 do,

Lance

No idea why I pasted the link wrong, just tired after testing many iso images I
guess. But this should be the link to the images:

The alternate images still show the old New Year greeting.

What should we be seeing?

Please look here:

But there's no real need to respond there.

I have mixed feelings about that. It looks good but I miss the traditional
menu, and I hate surprises at my age.

I just need to know what the intent is, then I can pass that on.

As always, thanks to all for everything they do,

Lance (now lbsolost @ iso-testing and still Erick Brunzell @ Launchpad)
