A little slow here, but just got around to getting my laptop upgraded ot 12.10
from 12.04. Having video issues, namely that the whole system freezes upon boot
when it hits the video driver loading. I've got a ThinkPad R60 and it's got a:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI
Radeon Mobility X1400 [1002:7145]
Which is not an ATI Rage Pro, but supposedly there is a problem with the driver
that runs both of these cards, as found here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QuantalQuetzal/ReleaseNotes/Lubuntu#QuantalQuetzal.2BAC8-ReleaseNotes.2BAC8-CommonInfrastructure-1.Video_Drivers
Unfortunately it doesn't make clear what the nature of the issue is. I'm not
sure why ATI Rage Pro is singled out when it very well may just be that the
driver itself is the problem. Anyone have any insight on this?

wxl

p.s. nomodeset seems to be a temporary fix. At least you can boot. Problems,
though, with suspend, and the occassional graphics freak out.
