Hi Gerry,

'that browser' is indeed xombrero, and you can grab it from https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/+archive/non-official-apps <https://launchpad.net/%7Elubuntu-dev/+archive/non-official-apps> (select quantal or raring depending on which you are running).

Regards,

Phill.

Hi Barry and thanks a lot for your email.

Indeed, with 256MB of RAM, Chrome/Chromium will crash.
Chromium actually crashes on my Test Laptop with 512MB of
RAM. Firefox on low RAM machines as far as I noticed is
            much stable.

There is a Non-Official Apps for Lubuntu for testing, one
of them is a browser. If that browser prove itself as a
better replacement for Chromium, I guess we might see that
on the next releases but of course, only if our tests will
show it is good and we vote for it.

What is the CPU for that machine?
I have tested that on two, one is Due Core 1.86GHz with
512MB RAM and the other is P4 3.0GHz with less than 512MB
RAM and on both machines, Chromium crashed either on
facebook or Gmail with another tab opened (total 2 tabs)
            and sometimes even one tab.

            Thanks :)

        Hi Ali,

        It is a Toshiba S2410-504, which has a P4 Mobile CPU 1.7GHz.

        Cheers,
        Barry T

    I am running 12.10 with AMD sempron 2800+ (1.6GHz) & 875MB RAM.
Everything is perfect but I have noticed the odd crash with
Chromium-browser-- "It's dead Jim" ? I just put it down to 'one of
those things', although I rarely have more than 2 tabs open.
I'm hoping "that browser" will be Xombrero as I am also using
XXXTERM which is an earlier version & I just appreciate the
    simplicity & control.

Hi Phill,
Thanks I got it :) I'd also like to put in a word for Seamonkey, even if it's only offered on the Lubuntu software center.
Thanks, Gerry
