I very much appreciate that there is still an Ubuntu flavor that can load from a CD.

When I installed a Linux partition for dual-booting (and testing) on my MacBook with Mac OS X 10.6, it wouldn't boot from the USB stick, so Lubuntu was the only version I could install in it, precisely because it would install from a CD.
