Thanks. I fiddled with it already yesterday and used 3.11.0-3-generic yesterday. It froze up at the end of the day. Now that Federico mentions it, /var/log/faillog is full of nulls. From 'wc' it has 0 lines. However, it was just that once that /var/log/syslog had any. Last night's crash, as usual, left no mark in the syslog. ...
