could you gently be more specific?
You set your keyboard to US alt-intl from the GUI into a fully English
system and you obtained the รง char from keyboard?

In my case, I am not trying to use language-specific special
characters. I am only needing to use the dvorak keyboard-layout, with
the need (for the convenience of others) to sometimes switch to qwerty
keyboard-layout.
