Thanks for the tip, it is quite interesting :-)

FLDT uses Partclone, which is also used by Clonezilla for cloning /
imaging. It is a good tool, but not as flexible as tar, that is used in
the OBI. It is not possible to install into a smaller device or
partition than the master, from which the image was made. But it is
certainly a working method.

Maybe I can have a closer look at it to find out if there are some
methods that could be 'borrowed' to the OBI.

I hope there is something you can use! It is licensed mostly in Apache, but it is also just a bunch of shell scripts, so you could just read it, and find new ways of doing something, and implement your own version of the same idea.... Keep us posted.
