This is a catch all that works pretty well to get you booted. Linux video="nomodeset" You can also look for an xorg file for your computer. http://mac.linux.be/content/xorgconf-files You can boot the LiveCD, and download the file, and save it as your xorg.conf file and restart lightdm from a tty.
