If you're not using Pepper, I'm disinclined to believe you're using Flash at all. Maybe there's something with the HTML5 implementation in the Firefox version you're running.
I note that 31 is still available in the repos (in trusty-updates/security). Perhaps you might have better luck grabbing 37 if you don't already have it. If that doesn't solve the problem, knowing the exact version (apt-cache policy firefox) will be telling. Running Firefox in the command line might help, too. It may produce some telling output.
